Larry Elmore, an American artist and editor, was born on August 5, 1948 in Kentucky, USA, and he graduated from the University of Western Kentucky as a Bachelor of Arts. From 1971 to 1973 he served in the U.S. Army. He is married, and with his wife Elizabeth, they have two children, Jennifer and Jeremy.
Thanks to his passion for Celtic culture, he began painting in the fantasy genre. In the late 70's, he began his career as a professional artist, first working for the Heavy Metal magazine. Since 1981, Larry had a great influence on the gaming industry, in particular the look-and-feel of the game series Dungeons & Dragons. The most famous creation of Elmore is probably the fantasy series Dragonlance, for which Larry created hundreds of covers and color illustrations.
Since 1987, Larry worked as freelance artist. His latest works includes Forgotten Realms, the comic book series SnarfQuest, and the design for the online role-playing game series EverQuest. Larry also wrote a book about his friends Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman. A permanent member of the convention DragonCon, his paintings sell well among collectors in the U.S. and Europe.
