British Star Boxed Sets |
The British First Star Series was published between 1978 and 1980. The series consists of 14 titles and 16 printings.
Both series use the same full cover artwork and the same title design. The most obvious difference between the British First Star Series and the British Second Star Series is the Star logo in the left or right bottom corner of the front cover. The first twelve volumes of the British First Star Series, from Tarnsman of Gor to Beasts of Gor use a logo based upon a simple, five-edged star, shown at the right. Explorers of Gor and, presumably, Fighting Slave of Gor have no logo on their front cover, and have been placed within this series by virtue of their publication date.
The British Second Star Series was published between 1981 and 1987. The series consists of 26 titles and 43 printings.
As mentioned earlier, the British Second Star Series uses the same full cover artwork and title design as the British First Star Series. However, in 1981 the original five-edged Star logo used for the British First Star Series is changed to a more elaborate, eight-edged logo, shown on the right. The covers of Explorers of Gor, Fighting Slave of Gor, Rogue of Gor, Guardsman of Gor, Savages of Gor, Blood Brothers of Gor, Players of Gor and Mercenaries of Gor do not show a Star logo on their front covers.
The British Star Hardcover Series was published between 1982 and 1984. As far as we know, right now, the series consists of only three titles.
These are the dust jackets:
The hardcovers that we have found so far have dust jackets which use the same cover art as the softcover versions. There might be other hardcovers still out there, but we have yet to find them.
These are the Boxed Sets, that we currently know of.
The first two boxed sets, one containing Tarnsman of Gor, Outlaw of Gor and Priest-Kings of Gor; the other with Nomads of Gor, Raiders of Gor and Raiders of Gor; were both published in 1984. The third boxed set that we know of, containing Blood Brothers of Gor, Tribesmen of Gor and Players of Gor; was published in 1986. All these boxeds set use existing artwork by Chris Achilleos and John Dolby, with the backgrounds changed to a supporting color.
